Incest Prevention Through Education
It is estimated that at least two out of every 10 girls, and one out of every 10 boys are sexually abused by the end of their 13th year.
So while many parents will pretend it cannot happen to their child, the fact is that children get molested in Jamaica everyday and some will speak out while others may be threatened into silence.
Some situations are so out of control that there are mothers who will know their child is being molested but become too afraid or ashamed to speak out leaving the child to suffer in silence.
However, prevention is much better than cure.
So instead of waiting to see signs that the child is a victim of incest or molestation, approach the subject as soon as the child can understand.
